Changing Seasons

Changing Seasons

As time passes by it seems the seasons in the United Kingdom become less and less distinct every year. We have snow in spring and the London Marathon was run in the hottest temperatures ever! Likewise the summer seems to linger longer than it once did and this winter feels like it has run on and on!

Spring is undoubtedly one of my favourite times of year, the days get longer, the garden comes back to life and every day gets us closer to summer and warmer weather! Whilst the seasons seem to blur, the interiors industry seems to remain firmly fixed around the traditional seasons.

The industry revolves around some of the biggest cities in Europe: London, Paris, Milan, Frankfurt to name but a few. One of our favourites is Maison et Objet in Paris. We normally visit in January and September. We always take the Eurostar when possible, it is just so convenient and less stressful than flying (for me anyway!). Typically we spend at least 2 long days; The first day is dedicated to finding new products and new suppliers and the second day is when we do the buying.

Whilst we always visit the UK trade fairs, we do like to travel a little further to find products that are new to the UK market. It is amazing how you find one company, which leads to another and your network grows.

This year we found some great new art. The product actually comes from Romania  and the prints are on fine art paper in wooden frames that have a real quality feel to them.

We also extended our candle collection, 'Jolted by Truth' being a a particular favourite. Presented in a chalk grey stone holder designed to inspire the feeling of nature throughout the home. With its top notes of ginger, lavender and eucalyptus, carefully blended with cedarwood, vanilla and musk an atmosphere of calm, relaxation and sophistication is created!

Culinary Concepts are a company that we are delighted to work with. Their newest collection was a real highlight this year and we have a number of great new products that are due in soon. One early arrival is this beautiful drinks tray. The Gatsby tray evokes  images of a glamorous bygone era, with its stainless steel base and Art Deco feel making it  a beautiful display tray, which is qually useful as a serving tray to offer champagne to your dinner party guests!

Excitingly We have just moved into new premises, a beautiful converted barn on a Suffolk Farm. We still have a way to go with furnishing and decoration, but look forward to giving you an update in our next blog!
